Cruz Vilaça Advogados is a boutique law firm, the only in Portugal whose main focus is EU and Competition Law. Among the many areas covered by EU law, it has dealt with issues relating to energy law, the digital sector, and the protection of fundamental rights.
In the interview, the lawyer and former judge at the Court of Justice of the EU takes a trip back to the early days of Portugal's accession to the then EEC. He recalls the political and economic issues raised during the accession negotiations, which he led between 1981 and 1982, such as relations between Portugal and Spain. He also impressively recalls the political figures who stood out in that period of national life.
Cruz Vilaça also refers to his recent intervention representing the Portuguese Government in a hearing before the Court of Justice regarding the European Football Super League and highlights the importance of EU Law for the solution of the case.
